This was a big decade for alcohol. Miller Lite was introduced in 1974 forever making light calorie beers popular to this day. In 1976, President Carter’s Brother introduced Americans to Billy Beer by Falls City Brewing Company. The glorious Judgment of Paris occurred in May of ’76, noting California as master winemakers, specifically Chateau Montelena, the winners of the best Chardonnay. The drinkers of the ’70s veered away from classical gin and whiskey cocktails in favor of these types of cocktails:
Long Island Iced Tea
1 oz. Vodka
1 oz. Gin
1 oz. Rum
1 oz. Tequila
1 oz. Triple sec
1.5 oz. Sweet and Sour mix
Splash of Coke
Moscow Mule
1/2 oz. lime juice
2 oz. vodka
4 to 6 oz. ginger beer
Harvey Wallbanger
1-1/2 oz. vodka
4 oz. orange juice
1/2 oz. Galliano (sweet, spicy, herbal liqueur)
