Brittany Petersen is a Chicago-based freelance writer. She once worked in a sandwich shop, which is where she learned that pickle-chocolate-chickpea milkshakes are not a good idea and that if packed properly, a snowball can in fact survive the sandwich oven conveyor. When not writing, cooking or getting lost in the North Avenue Whole Foods, she studies for a master’s degree in Writing and Publishing at DePaul University.
